When dreaming about an Alaska vacation you may envision yourself reeling in King Salmon, roaming the Alaska wilderness shooting wildlife pictures or simply observing the awe-inspiring beauty that will continue to surround you.

Alaska still remains one of the last frontiers on our planet. Its harsh extremely rugged environment can put any well-equipped adventurer to the test. Yet for the wise, you can engage in a thrilling Alaska vacation, experience the rugged Alaska environment, the awe-inspiring beauty and participate in Alaska’s beckoning adventurous surroundings as much or as little as you want. And you can do it all from the safety of your home away from home!

Your Alaska vacation setting, your home away from home, is aboard one of the most spectacular means of transportation known today, a luxury cruise ship. Granted, these cruise ships are monstrous in their own right, dwarfed by jutting mountain peaks and colossal glacier ice fields. Yet, you have the opportunity to experience some of Alaska’s finest, right from the luxury and comfort of your home away from home, a cruise ship.

Advantages Of Living In The Northwest...
For those living in the Pacific Northwest, you have the ease and advantage of driving a vehicle to your departure port, either Seattle, Astoria or Vancouver, B.C.; making your Alaska vacation that much more of a vacation. You’ll experience the joys from NOT having to deal with the anxieties of a possible flight delay or flight cancellation and no additional strain on the pocket book requiring additional money for flights or possible hotel stays.

If you’re driving, the ideal is to find a friend or family member to drop you off and pick you up. You do, however, have the option of parking at the Bell Street Garage located directly across from Pier 66, the cruise terminal in Seattle.

  • Fee: $12.00 per day.
  • On-line reservations are available through Republic Parking at www.rpnw.com
  • Location: 9 Wall Street. Enter at the corner of Alaskan Way and Wall Street.
  • 25 handicap parking stalls.
  • No oversize or RV parking is available in the garage. Vehicles must be less than 6'6" high.
  • Republic Parking operates the garage. Questions? Call the garage staff at (206) 783-4144.

The ability to leave home and drive to your cruise ship is truly remarkable. We took that opportunity to engage in an Alaska vacation with Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) the summer of 2004. Previously we’d explored Alaska by air; vehicle, foot and most recently the favorable moment came, to explore Alaska by way of a cruise ship.

Past Vacations Were Work...
Our past Alaska vacations required an immense amount of planning, organization, and ultimately, "work", yielding very little time for some true relaxation and quality time with loved ones. An NCL Alaska Cruise allows you to truly relax and spend the necessary quality time with loved ones. The cruise gives you options. If you want to engage yourself into an intense schedule, you can. If you don’t want the intensity, that’s your option.

Cruising With NCL...
We elected to cruise with NCL for various reasons: they’re very competitive in price, they offer "Free-Style Cruising", they have fabulous children programs, superb entertainment, an international crew and they were the first cruise line in Seattle. We had to check them out…and that we did!

Six of us, 2-adults and 4-children, set off to explore the qualities of NCL on an Alaska vacation. Our vessel, the "Norwegian Spirit" was docked at the Port of Seattle, the Pier 66 Terminal. Our scheduled departure was a Saturday afternoon allowing us the relaxing time to get some last minute things together. We were in no rush whatsoever. We could arrive at the ship between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. How soothing this was to all the family members.

Arriving at the terminal was a little confusing; it appeared as if every passenger descended on the ship at the same time. Amongst the confusion we found a courteous NCL employee who directed us to the appropriate baggage check-in and ticketing lines. We were impressed how quickly and orderly the lines flowed. NCL did a fantastic job of getting us through the baggage check-in, ticketing and on-board the ship.

Each passenger is issued an ID card before boarding. This ID Card serves as your room key, boarding pass and credit card for any onboard shopping. It’s imperative that you guard it like your credit card, do not leave it unattended. You’ll need it in ALL ports of call for departing and boarding the ship.

Before the ship left the Seattle dock we were exploring. The Spirit carries 1,996 passengers with a crew of 920. That’s nearly 1-crew memberfor every 2-passengers! And we have to say; the crew was there to serve us and make sure we had the absolute best Alaska vacation. We appreciated all of the nationalities represented on the Spirit. It’s truly a vessel of international flair.

Our kids, of course, loved the stern section of the ship, the Kids Club. It’s amazing, an entire mini-amusement park with tunnels, tubes and balls, a pool with slides, fountains and a mock pirate ship yielding water-spouting cannons that make up the upper portion of the stern section. This is a kid’s heaven. When our kids were tired of the water games (that rarely happened), the arcade was only steps away.

The restaurants on board were numerous from fine dining to buffet style and fast food offered 24-hours a day. You’ll never go hungry. If you’re dieting to lose weight, put the diet on hold for the duration of the cruise. You’ll want the flexibility to enjoy all the fabulous food entrees.

The Many Options...
We especially enjoyed the many options of simply watching whales spout, the beautiful scenery passing us by, picking up a movie in the theater, dining, playing cards, trying our luck in the casino, listening to some live entertainment at one of the many bars, lounging on the deck by one of the pools, pumping iron at the gym, shooting some hoops on the basketball court…the list seems endless. This is the ultimate Alaska vacation; you can do it all, part or nothing.

Our family of six always had something to do, there was never a dull boring moment. Each one of us had the option to choose what we wanted to do. My wife, for example, read a book in the library while I watched a movie in the theater, our oldest hung out with some new found friends and the other three played on the water slides. Our Alaska vacation was unlike any other, there was literally no sacrificing the wants and likes of other family members. And above all, we didn’t have to drive to any of these recreational activities!

One of our favorite functions were the evenings live high quality entertainment in the grand Moulin Rouge showroom. It’s unique in that the Moulin Rouge utilizes two decks, with theater style sitting. You ultimately get a great view from every seat, including the one’s in the balcony! On our particular cruise, the Cruise Director, Adrian Lewis, did a fabulous job organizing all of the professional entertainment. The picture depicts a special attribute to all the crew who made our Alaska vacation an unforgettable experience.

Ports of Call...
And of course, there are the ports of call: Ketchikan via the Inside Passage from Seattle, Juneau, Skagway and Prince Rupert with a sneak into the Sawyer Glacier. The ports are all awesome. You have the choice of departing the ship and venturing out into the Alaskan territory or stay in your second home, onboard the Spirit. It’s your choice to expand your Alaska vacation to meet your adventurous needs and desires.

On shore you can experience nearly any level of excitement you so desire. You’ll have at your disposal helicopter flights, fishing opportunities, river rafting, guided tours, shopping expeditions or simply strolling around on a self-guided walking tour. The ports of call, on our Alaska vacation, were relatively small. This enabled us to walk around the towns to capture the Alaskan lifestyle. Granted, our stay in each port was limited but it did yield enough time to get a taste, an experience of Alaska. The ports were showcased enabling us to see the highlights and if so desired we could return at a later date.

Ketchikan was our first port of call after cruising through the majestic Inside Passage. Ketchikan is a shoppers dream, an added feature to experience the ultimate Alaska vacation. The historic downtown and specialty shops are within minutes from the cruise ship docks. You’ll find a wide selection of native art, jewelry, sporting goods and even the Alaskan themed toys.

We especially enjoyed walking around town, watching the salmon run through a stream in the center of town and riding the city bus to Saxman Village, a native village 2-miles south of Ketchikan. The village is literally a totem pole park revealing the native’s culture. Returning to the ship we decided to walk the 2-miles back along a fabulous waterside walkway that portrayed the beauty of this Southeast Alaska area.

Juneau was the second port of call. We were amazed how much the city had changed over the past 10-years. The cruise ship industry had a great effect on the coastal Alaskan towns. Shops literally sprung up overnight to accommodate the thousands of passengers descending upon Juneau and the other coastal towns.

Juneau is the capital of Alaska, nestled between towering mountains. The enormity of the cruise ships makes for an awesome sight as they cruise between the mountain ridges. Juneau is also home to the Mendenhall Glacier. This is a sight to be seen, especially if you’re not familiar with glaciers. We took the city bus to the Mendenhall Valley and walked about a mile to reach the glacier. Of course, there are other options to get to the glacier via helicopter or one of the many bus-guided tours.

If you plan on visiting the glacier bring along your National Parks Pass. This will entitle you free entrance to the visitor’s center. Visit www.nps.gov for more information about the pass.

Our third Port of Call was the infamous little town of Skagway. Our route to Skagway took us up the Tracy Arm to the Sawyer Glacier. We cruised past icebergs and gushing water falls. The captain brought the cruise ship near the spectacular ice-flow, a sight you have to see. Our kids continued playing on the water-slides as we cruised along the towering pieces of ice, truly an amazing sight.

Skagway welcomed us with open arms. It’s here that the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898 began. It’s hard to imagine more than 30,000 gold seekers set out from this once tiny village. And now, Skagway is experiencing it’s second gold rush. Approximately 5- cruise ships visit Skagway every day during the months of May – September, that’s 10,000 visitors per day bringing money into the community!

The town is very easy to get around; it’s about 7-blocks long all encased with specialty shops. The prices are extremely competitive yielding some good quality products. Regarding the tours, you can always sign up for a tour aboard the ship; however, if you didn’t make previous tour arrangements you still have ample opportunities on shore.

Skagway is known for the famous scenic railway. It’s a 3-hour ride out of Skagway following the gold rush route into the Yukon. We decided against the train ride and hopped aboard a personalized driving tour with the Skaguay Tour Company. We like the added edge a personalized tour gives. The tour consists of a historic city tour and a drive to the summit of White Pass, essentially paralleling the train route but only half the cost. We also had the opportunity to stop at various points of interest along the way, unlike the train. Before you go to Skagway check out www.skagwaytourco.com. Be sure to bring your passport, you’ll cross into Canada and may need the identification for re-entry into the U.S.

Our last Port of Call, before returning to Seattle, was Prince Rupert. This cosmopolitan city encompasses many cultures and is the home of the First Nations people for 10,000 years. Near the cruise dock is a native museum with a variety of shops nestled along the waterfront. Compared to the other ports, we found the various gift items expensive even with the good U.S. dollar exchange rate.

There are tours that you can participate in; however, we took advantage of the walking tour along the waterfront visiting the sunken gardens. It made for a nice walkabout; however, our kids were anxious to return to the ship and engage in the many wonderful activities. That’s the beauty; you have a home away from home, a comfortable place to return to creating a relaxing and enjoyable Alaska vacation.

Seattle, our off-boarding port, came far too soon. None of us was very anxious to leave the ship; we were ready to do the cruise again. But the reality, we had to disembark. NCL made this an extremely easy process. Each passenger is given a color-coded baggage tag depending upon your on-shore schedule. For example, if you had a morning flight scheduled out of SeaTac Airport, your color-coded baggage tag indicated early ship disembarkation. You’d simply listen to your color tag announced over the loudspeaker system and proceed to depart the ship. NCL makes it a relaxing experience even when the ship has reached its final destination. You can sit back, relax and continue to enjoy your Alaska vacation while eating breakfast looking out at Seattle’s skyline.

The Memories...
Foremost, the things we bring with us from any vacation is the memories, the experiences. It, therefore, makes sense to have a memorable vacation. Unfortunately there is a cost to it, any vacation or anything we do in life will cost in some form, either money, time, material things, etc. A cruise costs money. If money is a concern to you then we can show you how to save money before you purchase your cruise tickets. Contact us and we'll send you the latest information.

The Alaska cruises book quickly. We encourage you to get the most of your Alaska vacation by booking early. You will not be disappointed. Contact us and we'll help you through the booking process, your memories are a keepsake; therefore, book early. Step out into the exciting, adventureous, and romantic wonderlands our planet has to offer...an Alaska Cruise.

Enjoy your Alaska Vacation with NCL,

You may want to consider a spending a romantic vacation in the Northwest.
There are several quaint opportunities just waiting for you.

We'll explore what the Northwest has to offer; however, even before knowing
the various options, it's imperative to know what you may consider is a romantic
vacation.  Here are some things to consider:

Know Before You Go...

  • Is the area just an over-crowed tourist resort area?  Sometimes to
help an economy stricken area, a town will promote itself as a tourist resort.
And ultimately, that is exactly what it is, a town full of tourist with
    souvenir shops galore.

  • Is there a natural, awe-inspiring aspect of mother-nature luring you to a
romantic vacation destination?  More than often, the natural beauty sets
the tone of any romanticism.  Nature itself is very romantic in its own
way; therefore, finding the right place whether it's a mountain backdrop,
gushing waterfall or the setting sun over a mellow seascape is of critical
    importance.

  • Is there solitude?  Those romantic times spent together as a couple
while engaging in a warm glowing sun set is a remarkable memorable experience.
You wan the memory to be just that, not a memory of horns honking or the
sounds of diesel engines sputtering down the roadside.  Find the solitude
that you're comfortable with.  It's not necessary to venture off to a
far-off remote island to enjoy solitude.

  • What appeals to you most, water, earth or fire or a combination of all or
some?  Water is rather obvious, an ocean, lake or stream setting.
The earth is composed of mountains, grand vistas or prairies.  The fire
is the sun, anytime and/or rising or setting.  People tend to be pulled
to one sector more than the other.  Look into your heart and the heart of
the other person involved in the romantic relationship and decide what setting
is best or perhaps a combination of some or all.

Once you've decided upon your likes, you can review the options.  In the
Northwest we have several options to choose from for your natural environment
and you can get as solitude as you would like.

Romantic Vacations...Locations In The Northwest...

Lake Chelan
offers the perfect water & earth environment especially as you venture on the
vessel, Lady of The Lake.  Check this place out, it's top on the list.

Leavenworth
has the tourism coming in; however, you can nestle back in some
romantic settings that will swoop you off your feet.

The San Juan Islands offers a mix of opportunities from the magnificent ferry
rides to the spectacular beaches.  The San Juans are nestled in the most
Northwest corner of the state of Washington.
Anacortes is
the gateway to the San Juans.

Seaside
Oregon
offers some remarkable views and strolls along the beach.
Seaside is a built up tourist area; however, you can find some solitude in and
around Seaside.

The Oregon
Coast
makes for a spectacular setting for a romantic vacation.  Here
you'll find many opportunities that you can romanticize for years to come.

The
Alaska Cruise
is one of the best romantic vacations out there.  Here
you have one of the most awe-inspiring places to visit on our planet, all for
the comfort of your home.  You can have as much solitude as you want aboard
the ship or some of the strolls on shore.  Read our account of the
Alaska
Cruise
.  You can have a romantic time even if you bring the kids along!

Keep checking back with us as we add more romantic vacations to our
repertoire.

Ten Tips To A Discounted Cruise

  1. Organize your cruise for the "off-season". Stay away
from the "peak season". If you can schedule your time even a few weeks
before or after the peak season you'll save substantially. For example,
The Alaska Cruise will have it's peak season during July and August. If
you can sail before or after those dates you'll save.

  2. Decide which cruise line you want to sail on. Some
travel agencies tend to push a specific cruise line for various reasons, one
reason is the agency receives a higher commission. Norwegian Cruise
Lines, for the most part, will yield a better savings. Do a little
homework and check out the amenities on each vessel to make sure it meets your
    expectations.

  3. Don't be miss-led when you see advertised specials such as
"Cheap Alaska Cruises, $599". These advertisements are usually for
off-season and do not include port fees and taxes.

  4. Get a cruise quote that includes port fees and taxes. If
the agency is unable to give that information to you then find another agency.
Your interest should be the bottom line, the total cost with NO Hidden Fees.
Port fees can run a couple hundred dollars per passenger, just be aware.

  5. Unless you plan on spending a lot of time in your cabin, get
an inside cabin. An inside cabin, without a window, is by far the
cheapest. The drawback to an inside cabin, you'll never know what time
of day it is sense no "day light" comes into your room. Make sure to
    have a clock.

  6. Cabin rates are typically based on a 2-person occupancy.
In other words, the first 2-people in the cabin will pay the full-fare,
additional people will pay 1/2 the fare. If
you plan on having more than 2-people in a cabin, make sure you are NOT paying
full fare for the extra 2-people. If so, find another agency.

  7. Cruise insurance is often recommended by the agency when booking your cruise. Don't purchase
cruise insurance from a travel agency, get it from an insurance company.
You'll not only save money but you'll probably get a better policy too.
We recommend the insurance because with the correct policy you are covered for
trip cancellation either on your part or the cruise line, medical and luggage.

  8. Cruising with a group does not
always save you money on your cruise. If you are cruising with a group
because you want to save money, think again, you may not be saving at all.
The organizer of your group, if the group consists of 8-cabins, will usually
get the cruise for free. They are the true savers.

  9. Check out your Sunday paper's
travel section long before you cruise. It'll give you an idea of what
    the market is like.

  10. We highly recommend
Cruises Only. They are the world's largest cruise agency and many travel agencies use them,
    including the famous Best Fares.

If you're flying in to board your cruise ship you'll want to purchase your
    airfare from
    Travelocity
    Travelocity i
s one of the established leaders in securing low airfare off the internet.
With little overhead, compared to the typical storefront travel agencies,
Travelocity, provides one of the lowest airfares for nearly all destinations.
It's site is easily navigate around and you know what you're getting. Because
of Travelocity's purchasing power, they are able to negotiate good contract
rates and pass the savings on to you.  Travelocity
offers cruises too, therefore, compare cruise prices with
    Travelocity
    and

    Cruises Only,
it will only take you 5-minutes.

If you have any questions regarding cruising, contact us at

Beware When Purchasing Your Airline
Ticket

Fake airline tickets are small in number; however, you do
want to use some "street-smarts" before purchasing an airline ticket. On a
past trip that we took to Spain, we purchased a ticket out of an office in
Florida. They were advertising extremely low airfares to Europe.
With our knowledge in the Travel Industry we were a little reluctant; however,
they assured us they purchased them at a discounted price from a wholesaler and
were passing the savings on. They won our trust, we purchase the tickets
thinking we had saved a bundle.

We departed New York bound for Madrid with no problems.
As we attempted to board for our return flight we were detained and questioned
thoroughly regarding the validity of the tickets. The airline personnel
said they were fake airline tickets and we were not permitted to board.
They confiscated the tickets and offered us the opportunity to purchase new
tickets for a different flight. This particular flight was already
overbooked.

We were in utter shock, how could we be traveling on fake
airline tickets? We'd paid for them! In all our years in the travel
industry we never came across a fake ticket, until now. We were
dumbfounded.

My wife was hysterical with the ticket agents; however,
they would not issue a boarding pass. We waited anxiously at the ticket
desk hoping some agent would give in to our dilemma. Just minutes before
final boarding, a quite ticket agent approached us with 2-boarding passes and
said, "Take them, go or you'll miss your flight". We left immediately,
boarded the plane, waiting in anticipation that a flight attendant would come
and ask us to leave. It wasn't until the plane was airborne did we finally
feel some relief.

How was it possible, of all people, we were duped into
getting a fake airline ticket? Even though counterfeit tickets are
relatively small in number, about $4 million a year, there are some things you
want to watch for when purchasing your ticket.

There is no real way to tell if your ticket is fake or not
but you can take some precautions. Tickets written by hand
should send a "red flag" to you. It's very unusual for a legitimate agency
to issue hand written tickets. Tickets that are extremely low in
price
should also send the "red flag" flying. This is probably the
most common, extremely low fares. If it's "too good to be true" it
probably isn't true..

The way these counterfeiters work is quite simple.
Usually it involves an inside person who understands the ticketing process.
The counterfeiter takes a legitimate ticket and doctors it up. It may
include an upgrade to first class, stop-overs, etc. The ticket appears
more valuable and has often changed hands several times before finally reaching
you, the buyer.

To protect yourself from possible fake airline tickets,
stay away from paper tickets because they can be doctored up. Purchase
an E-Ticket
, they are less vulnerable to any type of fraud and always
make sure the ticket isn't underfared
. It's great to save money while
traveling and purchase the least expensive ticket but you also want to make sure
you're not purchasing a fake airline ticket.

We've found the best sources for tickets are from Travelocity and
Orbitz. They both offer extremely competitive fares and
issue e-tickets protecting your travel journey from possible fraud. Be
sure to read the article

Traveling with children is definitely different than
traveling without them.  Kids change every facet of your life as you
travel.  The real key to making any travel event fun and enjoyable for all
is planning ahead.  A little preparation goes along way.

While preparing for any trip you'll be faced with an array
of challenges, whether it be finding the best rates; accommodations, air fare,
or what-have-you.  But, most importantly is having a good attitude during
the planning phase of the trip and during the trip itself.  Be prepared for
the unexpected in any given situation.

Before we set out on any trip, whether close or far, and
the kids are included, we review as many options available for all of the kids.
We have 4 kids, each one is 2 to 3-years apart and of course their interests
vary greatly.  As a result the kids learn to sacrifice a little for each
other during the course of the trip.

Here's a big factor!  If the kids are old enough, not
toddlers, let them in on the trip planning sessions.  It's not only a fun
family project but it gives the kids ownership of the trip and ultimately they
take on more responsibility.  We like giving responsibilities to the kids,
it helps them learn and takes some burdens off us parents.

The responsibilities that we give our kids in the planning
phase is to figure out what type of food we should eat and some suggestions on
places to visit or things to do.  It's a fun brain-storming session for
them and great research project.  They end up learning a great deal more
than they ever would in a classroom setting with this little exercise.

As we're traveling with children the responsibilities will
range from watching the youngest, cleaning, cooking  (depends upon where we
stay), to photography.  We've found most kids love taking pictures so we
let them use their creativity with an inexpensive camera.  They've come
back with some pretty good looking pictures.  We do have to keep the number
of rolls-of-film to a specific number or they will shoot countless rolls.

Don't be too structured with your time as you're traveling
with children.  The clock seems to run a little different for kids than
most adults.  Be flexible as you go about your day, whether it's sight
seeing, hiking, beach combing, etc.

I had the opportunity to bring one of our kids back to the
Northwest from Spain.  It was a long flight, our daughter was only three
and couldn't understand a word of English.  She spent the summer in Spain
and at that young age picked up the Spanish language very well.  Our
communication was only in Spanish, granted my Spanish has great room for
improvement.  Nevertheless, on the flight behind us was three young Spanish
girls.  They pleaded with me to let them play with my daughter.  I
agreed, and for the entire flight my daughter had playmates the entire trip.
My job was easy!  So, be flexible, you never know what may occur to benefit
you and the kids.

For kids ages 6 and up you'll find adventure vacations
that allow the kids to participate.  Keep that in mind if you're looking
for a true adventure type vacation as you're traveling with children.
We've found cruising spectacular.  Our kids have fallen head-over-heels
with cruising.  Norwegian Cruise Lines has a fabulous Kids program.
It gives us, adults, the flexibility to choose from the ships many other
amenities.  You can read about our
Alaska
Cruise...click here.
Cruising makes traveling with children a breeze!

If you're traveling near an amusement park, this is a
great treat, especially if it's hot and there's a water park too.  This is
family fun!  Both kids and adults typically love this adventurous setting.
Sometimes it's a little pricy but if you plan ahead you can look for bargains.

If you're traveling with children that are older, in their teens, they
usually have the "need"..."I want to be with my  friends".  Our kids sure do,
and what do we do to accommodate that?  We find a friend to come with us.
We don't offer that opportunity all the time but on occasions we let friends
come too.  This way our kids are happy and we know who are kids are hanging
out with.  It's been a win-win for us.

In summary, while in the planning stages, put your kids
first.  Plan around them and everything else will fall into place.  If
this is suppose to be a "Romantic Getaway" then don't bring the kids, find a
babysitter.  But, if this is a family vacation, forget about your
individual self and focus on the family.  You'll be happier and the kids
will be too.

Getting the best airfare is not as hard as you think...or
is it? You do need to be wise as the airfare prices change, sometimes
hourly: however, as a rule of thumb there are certain places to purchases
tickets and places not to purchases tickets. Get the latest info at

As you're traveling, think of yourself as a winner...We recently watched the
movie, Million Dollar Baby with Clint Eastwood. There was a profound
poster as a backdrop on a gym wall, the poster read, "Winners Simply Do What
Losers Won't".

You're a winner in everything you set your mind to accomplish whether it be a
vacation or career, you won.

Our DREAM JOB...Hi! I'm Craig...The Chief Editor and my wife...the inspiration behind
Northwest Travel Tips...The following summarizes our dream job.

We have over
20-years in the Travel/Tour business. After researching the competitive
market of travel tours we decided to review our long term goals and decided to
invest our time into an online consumer oriented Travel Magazine.

We'd take everything we've learned and
give it away to you, the
consumer. It's a win-win, we love what we do and you end up with some
fabulous travel secrets.

This is a
down-to-earth account of how this site, Northwest Travel Tips, came into
existence, how it earns us money and how much unbelievable fun we are having...

In summary, this site is living proof of what REALLY works...you could
live your dream job too!

Right now, out of about 17 Million websites on the Internet we are listed in
the top 8% of all websites. That's ALL Websites! Our goal is
to have our site listed in the top 2% of All Websites...that will happen.
And to think we are not computer literate. We knew next to nothing about
creating a website let alone getting it listed in the top searches on the
Internet and this all began in November of 2003.

OK, so you want to know how we did it? We can summarize it all in one
word...Site
Build It
...giving us our dream job.

Yep, Site
Build It
, took us to another level. We were looking for a way to make
money and not just from a J-O-B. We played with several business
opportunities including MLM, only to have none of them pan out to fulfill our
hopes and dreams. One time we took a passion of ours, travel, and built a
Personalized Travel/Tour Company, had success and wanted to find a way to expand
upon that to give us even more freedom.

To us, FREEDOM is one of the top reasons why we chose to go into business.
We found a job just wasn't able to give us the kind of freedom we wanted.
Also, if we worked hard, we wanted that hard work to come back to us in our
business and not building someone else's business.

As the Internet came more prevalent we thought there must be a way to put our
passion of traveling online. We searched and searched and it wasn't until
one day that we came across a FREE net course offered by Ken Evoy. I took
the course and was excited by the information about succeeding on the Internet.
In fact, you can take a FREE Net
Writing Masters Course
. Upon completion of the course you'll have the
ability to write and sell products on the net. The bottom line is making
money and yielding FREEDOM!...That's important to us but you have to figure out
what is important to you.

Upon completion of the course we dived into Site
Build It
. This has everything from building a website, search engine
submission, newsletters...the list goes on and on. You might say it's like
a "business-in-a-box". All you have to do is plug your ideas into it.
There's an entire course that goes along with Site Build It, including "Niche
Markets" and their demands, competition and profitability. It's incredible
the amount of resources at your fingertips that would take hundreds of hours and
thousands of dollars to get otherwise.

Here's the targeted traffic the site generated at its beginnings: December
2003 we had 1403 visitors, January 04 - 2622 visitors, February 04 - 3184, March
04 - 3728, April 04 - 5615, May 04- 7246 AND it KEEPS GROWING! What does
that mean, targeted traffic coming to our site, money in our pockets yielding
FREEDOM!

Whatever your dreams or passion are go for it! Don't pass up your dream
job. We are now working on another site, another passion of ours,
Love-Quotes. Check out our new
site and watch it develop and grow into one of the Top Sites on the Net.
And meanwhile, don't just watch us, follow your dream...live your dream job,
life is too short!

Don't ever give up your dreams...

and never leave them behind.

Find them; make then yours,

and all through your life,

cherish them,

and never let them go.

- Elisa Costanza

While traveling things do happen, missed connections, lost luggage, etc.
That's the risk of traveling.  The main aspect when traveling is to have a
"Positive Attitude".  Positive Attitude Creates Positive Results.

When dealing in critical situations, having that positive attitude can get
you through the circumstance better than you can expect.  Also, while
asking for help, a positive attitude gets the appropriate help quicker and
efficiently.

It's always good to treat others with respect and shine with your positive
outlook.  Believe it or not, you do have an influence on others with the
way you present yourself.

Think about this the next time you travel....

Here's how to
get that low cost airfare...Click Here

Finding Low Airfare is NOT That Complicated...as some may want you to
believe. With more than 20 years in the Travel/Tour Industry, and senior
editor for Northwest Travel Tips (your consumer oriented online Travel Magazine)
we reveal the FACTS!

You can of course, spend hours searching web pages, spend countless dollars
on travel memberships, review newspapers and ask friends for their great
knowledge about securing the cheapest fares and it's very likely you'll
receive several options pertaining to getting the low airfare.

Let's Begin...Airline tickets are a product, a commodity that is for
sale and is based on the supply and demand principle. As the demand is
high, so too are the airline ticket prices.

Your typical travel agency will have a contract with a wholesaler at
established rates. You, the consumer, will pay the going retail rate for
the ticket. It's that simple, very much like other products on the
marketplace. Is it possible to purchase a ticket directly from the
wholesaler? It's very unlikely. Wholesalers deal in bulk; therefore,
the sale of 1-ticket is not time nor cost effective for the wholesaler.

There are travel agencies who purchase a number of seats on particular
flights and sell them at reduced retail rates. The agencies buy the tickets at a
discounted wholesale price because of the bulk buying. Agencies that
typically purchase bulk seats are specialized in a particular area. For
example, an agency might specialize in Spain; therefore, they'd purchase several
seats in advance on airlines and market them as their specialty. They
in-turn can offer fabulous rates.

To find these specialized agencies, check you Sunday Travel Section, Yellow
Pages and/or library. Your library may have a means of searching their
data base for SIC Codes. In the case of Travel Agencies, the SIC Code is
4724-02. You do need to make sure the agencies are specialized for the
area in which you want to travel to get the best possible rate.

Internet Airfares...Some internet sites offering low airfares are
really bucking the system. In reality, they are hooked up with another
travel agency, therefore, another mark-up and what you think is a good rate, may
not really be. There are some GOOD Internet Sites that offer great
savings and we'll explore some of those.

Travelocity
is one of the established leaders in securing low airfare off the internet.

Orbitz is another great contender when looking for the low airfare. Five
airlines started Orbitz; American, Continental, Delta, Northwest and United.
They have the capability of offering their seats at discounted rates.
They have over 450 airlines to search from in their database, one of the
largest.

Bestfares.com is a travel member site.
You don't have to be a member to view the various promotions; however, if you
want to take advantage of any promotion, membership is required. With
Bestfares member-based site there are some
Hidden
Costs, so BEWARE
. This is what we are not happy about with
Bestfares.com.

Bestfares will reveal some great travel opportunities; however, they are
typically very limited on travel dates, seats and other restrictions.
Also, they have higher than average booking fees. We've found that what
looks like a good deal upfront doesn't look so good once everything is out on
the board.

Our Recommendation...Use Travelocity
or
Orbitz, especially if you are unable to find an agency that deals
specifically with the area in which you want to travel. Also, use
Travelocity and Orbitz as a tool for a cost comparison even before calling agencies.

Happy Traveling and get your
Low Airfare...

While traveling keep the following in mind...

If you truly want to be successful,
start thinking of yourself as successful.

The only thing that stands between you
and what you want from life,
is simply the will to try it
and the faith to believe that it is possible.

There is nothing on earth that you can't have,
once you mentally accept the fact that you can have it.

The feeling must come first.
If you actually feel successful,
if you have a deep inner conviction
that you'll always have all that you need, it will be so.

Whatever your mind can conceive and believe in,
your mind can help you achieve.

Oregon Brewery Event

Northwest Travel Tips

OREGON BREWERS FESTIVAL CELEBRATES LEWIS & CLARK'S CORPS OF DISCOVERY, ADDS
FOURTH DAY TO EVENT

PORTLAND, Ore. - Feb. 6, 2005 - In a nod to the success of the
internationally renowned Oregon Brewers Festival (OBF), event organizers
have extended this year's event, announcing that the doors will open one day
early. The 18th annual festival will begin on Thursday, July 28, and
continue through Sunday, July 31 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown
Portland. Hours for the event will be 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Noon to 9 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, and Noon to 7 p.m. Sunday (token and mug sales cease
one-half hour prior to closing). The popular Oregon Brewers Dinner, a
ticketed prelude to the festival, will take place on Wednesday, July 27.

Seventy-two breweries present as many handcrafted brews during the OBF,
which is regarded by many industry experts and beer fans alike as the finest
craft beer festival in the nation. This year's theme celebrates the Corps of
Discovery. Two hundred years ago, Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and the
other members of the Corps of Discovery traveled 3,700 miles from the
Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean. At the end of their journey, they
discovered the beauty of Oregon and its abundance of natural resources.
Beer fans that make the trek to this year's OBF will find a selection of
beers offered from locations along the original expedition, with the balance
made up of Oregon's quality native beers.

One reason for the popularity of the OBF is that it is a non-judging event,
designed to instead allow the public to sample and savor brews from some of
the nation's finest breweries and draw their own conclusions. Beer is the
focus of the event, and both classic and innovative beer styles are
represented. There are hoppy pale ales, malty Belgian ales, creamy Scottish
Ales, nutty brown ales, potent bocks, rich porters, refreshing pilsners, and
charismatic ambers, just to name a few.

Joining the breweries are industry exhibits by hop growers, maltsters,
homebrewers, alephenalia collectors, and national beer writers. Seven local
on-site restaurants offer light meals and alternative beverages, and the
Oregon Beverage Works Soda Garden offers complimentary handcrafted sodas to
minors and designated drivers. Live entertainment is featured throughout
the event. Alternative modes of transportation are encouraged, with free
bicycle parking available each day courtesy of the Bicycle Transportation
Alliance. The main entrance to the event is located one block from the MAX
Light Rail line.

Admission for entry into the festival grounds is free. A one-time purchase
2005 souvenir mug costs $4 and is required for consuming beer. Mugs from
previous years will not be filled. Tokens are required for purchase of beer.
Tokens cost $1 apiece. Patrons pay four tokens for a full mug, or 1 token
for a taste. Minors are permitted at the event when accompanied by a
parent. Only ADA animals are allowed on the festival grounds.

The OBF was founded in 1988 as an opportunity to expose the public to
microbrews at a time when the craft brewing industry was just getting off
the ground. Today, that industry has succeeded, despite unpredictable ups
and downs; especially in Oregon, a state that has more craft breweries per
capita than just about anywhere else in the nation (70+ breweries in the
state, and more than a third of those are in Portland). The fact that the
Oregon Brewers Festival is still drawing vast crowds is a strong testament
to the public's loyalty toward microbrews.

For more information about the OBF, call the event hotline at 503/778-5917,
or visit www.oregonbrewfest.com. For visitor information and hotel
reservations, visit www.travelportland.com or call toll-free 1.87.PORTLAND

Cruising Alaska

Cruising Alaska is one of the most rewarding vacation settings the world has
to offer. Alaska is unique in that it lacks the beauties of the tropics;
however, it opens into majestic awe inspiring majestic wonderlands. From
the glaciers tumbling into the Pacific Ocean to the massive wildlife, there's
something for everyone who visits Alaska. And what a better way than to
cruise Alaska aboard one of the luxury cruise ships.

You can join us in our
Cruising
Alaska Adventure
. We've put a little chronological encounter of our
cruise to help shed some insights into cruising Alaska.

Cruising Alaska is one of the most popular cruising routes. Gone are the days
when you could book at the last minute and hope to find great cruising deals.
Now, booking is done six or seven months out. Some people are already
booking into the 2006 season.

Nothwesterners are taking advantage of the Alaska cruise, it's so simple.
There's no air transportation expenses and hassles, the cruise ships are
close-to-home.

The 2005 cruise season, four major cruise lines will offer service from
Seattle to Alaska - Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Princess
Cruises and Celebrity Cruises. The season extends from May through
September.

If you're on a budget and prefer the more casual cruises, check out Norwegian
Cruise Line. They also offer the eat-anytime in various restaurants
throughout the ship.

Holland America and Celebrity Cruises are more upscale and serene.
You'll pay for the additional upscale.

If you're looking for more glitz and entertainment, check out Princess
Cruises.

Ten Tips To A Discounted Cruising
Alaska Trip

  1. Organize your cruise for the "off-season". Stay away from the
"peak season". If you can schedule your time even a few weeks before or after
the peak season you'll save substantially. For example, cruising Alaska will have it's peak season during July and August. If
you can sail before or after those dates you'll save.

    Cruises Only for your

    Cruising Alaska
. They are the world's largest cruise agency and many travel agencies use them,
    including the famous Best Fares.
